Orbital 02. is designed to evoke the wonder of growth and transformation. Crafted from stunning Bolivian rosewood, this piece showcases the natural grain and figure of the wood, preserved and enhanced with clear epoxy to create a sense of suspension. The circular shape echoes the rings of time, inviting reflection and appreciation.
The high-gloss finish is achieved through meticulous sanding and polishing, resulting in a mirror-like surface that highlights the wood's natural beauty. Paired with sleek, minimalist MIG-welded legs crafted by the artist, this piece balances organic elegance with modern craftsmanship, making it a perfect statement for any sophisticated space.

The process began with discovering a stunning Bolivian rosewood cookie. I let the wood talk; and see how it behaves. The wood spoke to me with its figure and grain, evoking the circularity of time measured not by clock hands, but by rings of growth. I chose to maintain it and enhance this natural beauty by embedding the wood in epoxy, creating a feeling of suspension. Through careful layering of the epoxy, I achieved added texture and depth, adjusting the curing time to ensure seamless transitions.
Once the resin cured, I planed the piece using a flattening jig for a smooth, even surface. I then sanded through grits up to 800 and polished it to a high-gloss sheen, balancing the materials and highlighting the wood's natural beauty. The legs, which I MIG welded, were designed with an eye for minimalism, providing sturdy support without detracting from the piece's organic elegance.
This process blends meticulous handcraft with mechanization, using tools such as the jig I made, planers, sanders, and welding equipment. Every stage executed with care to create a refined, cohesive result.
